ProActive Leader Traits Survey

These traits, using a variety of words, have been consistently expressed by staff members over the past 30 years when asked in our workshops and seminars, "What traits does a leader possess that motivate you to follow and collaborate with them?

As a leader, the more consistently you express these traits the more you will influence and inspire your colleagues, staff and customers in ways that will make and save more money for your enterprise over the long haul.

Please mark in front of each trait below the degree (1 low to 4 high) to which you think you express each leadership trait. On the back of this survey, list examples of what you do to express each trait.

For greater objectivity and validation, consider having your trusted colleagues, your accountability partners, and your spouse complete the survey. Have them state the degree to which they see you expressing each trait and how so and not so.

When your feedback is complete, write out your personal development goals and the action steps you’ll take for strengthening one or more of these traits. Share them with others and ask them to observe you in action and give you reinforcing and corrective feedback. Tell them you want their help to align your "walk" with your "talk" so that you can increase your positive impact on those around you.

When you invest the time necessary to do a quarterly review of these traits, you will benefit greatly. You’ll experience an increase in people’s trust, confidence, respect, cooperation, and loyalty toward you as you work with them. You’ll be helping yourself and others achieve your organization’s vision, governing operating values, mission and goals faster and easier.
