Meet the Author of Tactical Tips On Demand

Dr. Millard MacAdam, Personal & Business Development Coach

I draw each of my Tactical Tips from a long and rich background of experiences in education, business, management, and leadership...  also from my “in the trenches” field research and executive interviews to bring you the practical and proven Tactical Tips On Demand in the areas of career building, staff building and business building.

I became a founding member of the American Society of Professional Consultants in 1980 and have been a personal and business development coach since that time. I am also a founding member of the International Association of Coaches.  I have over five decades of experience assessing and helping to strengthen the people, processes and policies in companies and organizations in ways that save and make them more money. I specialize in facilitating team building, board retreats, conducting training programs, and personally coaching business owners, managers and their staff members in the "how to" of strengthening their organization development, leadership and managerial skills.

On a continuing basis, I conduct research and interviews with company owners and executives into the causes of break downs in integrity, productivity and profitability.  Also into the impact integrity has on personal careers and an organization's health, longevity and financial fitness. I help business owners, managers and their staff members master and apply the "how to" skills and strategies for: (1) Gaining and maintaining excellently run organizations; (2) Hiring only the top 10 % producing people of high character, competence, and commitment; (3) Deploying people effectively and maximizing their personal motivation during downsizing and reorganization; (4) Facilitating performance diagnosis and improvement; (5) Building high integrity leadership and work teams; (6) Facilitating mutual accountability and peer coaching processes; and, (7) Integrating my Intentional Business Integrity Model and developmental training modules into their operations.

My clients have included leaders at all levels in manufacturing and high tech companies; accounting, banking and insurance enterprises; medical and health care organizations; service and retail oriented businesses; and educational, governmental and non profit organizations.

After serving in the United States Air Force as Director of the Career Information and Education Center for the headquarters unit of the 33rd Division of the Strategic Air Command, I pursued two concomitant careers. I graduated and became an educator, holding a variety of teaching and management positions. As a Director of Personnel, I designed and implemented innovative staff selection, development and evaluation programs and processes.  I also designed and implemented performance accountability programs.

Paralleling my career in education, at twenty-seven years of age, I and my two partners founded and developed a privately owned company, Sycamore Ranch, Inc. For sixteen years I served as President and CEO of the resident retreat and education facility. I guided its development into a fifty acre enterprise with over one hundred employees before I sold my share of the property and company stock and established my first consulting firm, MacAdam and Associates.

In 1970, I received my Ed. D degree from the University of Southern California, with a major in curriculum and instructional design and a minor in administration.  I also hold a Master’s degree in administration and a Bachelor’s degree in education with a major in social science.  My post graduate work includes completing the widely acclaimed University Associates Human Resource Consulting Program.

I have taught a variety of organization development, management, and leadership courses at several California universities and colleges and have lead seminars for the American Management Association and a variety of other professional associations and conferences.  I have taught masters and doctoral level courses and served on doctoral committees at Pepperdine and Laverne Universities.  I am also a professional speaker.

As an author, I have written and published a variety of training programs as well as "how to" leadership and management newspaper columns and articles in local and national publications.  My books include Intentional Integrity, Intentional Personal Integrity and Intentional Leadership Integrity. I also produced and hosted the satellite television interview program, The Leader’s Edge, discussing a variety of organization, leadership and management topics with guest leaders.
